fuel rail relieve valve (pressure regulator) faulty. either you are getting the wrong reading from the sensor and the ECU is shutting down. or. the pressure regulator is not maintaining the correct pressure. you need to have a manual fuel pressure gauge, or just swap out the sensor as they are not expensive. If you wanted problem free and ease of use / servicing you should have gone for the 1.8TDCI. But same with any car, keep up with the servicing etc. I am assuming it is the MK2 focus? If it is the hatchback, check for water ingress into the boot. It can come in through the rear lights, 3rd brake light/spoiler. The main issues will be rust. Name: Dan. I have a 2012 Focus MK3 1.6 TDCI 113bhp and considering EGR blanking plate and remap to delete EGR software. I know on the MK3 the EGR is self cleaning and seems to have less issues, but assume with regular short journeys will If I was to trick the ECU into thinking that pressure was 200bar (by using a voltage divider on the FRP sensor), would the ECU then power the injectors? (As a test ofcourse). Also, another question on a different matter; Forscan says that a dpf regen can only be performed when the engine is 65c. 1. Name: sergio. Ford Model: Focus 1.6 tdci. Problem with the ABS self test on Mk2's. First time you hit 12mph after you first start the car the ABS will self test (same time as the seat belt alarm goes off).It is quite common this will be accompanied by a noticeable clunk and sometimes a rather scary grinding noise. .
